A Gracious Hello ~

By visiting this site, you have told me something about yourself.

  1. You are probably a CPA or lawyer, or a representative of one, who is feeling some measure of pain in developing your practice.

  2. You may be the managing partner, who feels that all the pressure of developing business rests on your shoulders.

  3. You could be the marketing director who doesn’t quite know how to get your firm’s marketing and business development program off the paper and into reality.

  4. Or, you might be a partner-in-the-making, who knows you’ve got to bring in business to make partner, and you want to know how to get started.

Who I am and What I do

Developing business in professional services is ultimately about three things: finding, creating and sustaining relationships. You will be relieved to know that these skills can be learned, just like you learned accounting or law. You simply need the right teacher, the right information, and the right motivation. I can show you how to find, create and sustain relationships in a way that allows you to be comfortable because you act like your real self. You don’t have to become a clone of the rainmaker, who always seems more outgoing, more charming, and more at ease than you.I can help you achieve real results by giving you and your team the skills you need to be successful. We’ll start by learning the marketing basics. Then we will understand the underlying behaviors and tools that make business developers successful and how to adapt those behaviors and tools to your own personality. Finally, we develop a plan that puts all these things into action.

Your success in business development will involve:

  • Becoming passionate about — and comfortable with — marketing and business development
  • Developing plans and supporting materials that focus on achieving results
  • Integrating internal and external marketing so everyone in your firm delivers the same message to the marketplace

The fruits of your labor will be:

  • More interesting work
  • Better clients
  • More respect from colleagues and competitors
  • More money for you and your firm

I have spent my career, both as an in-house marketing director and a consultant, helping CPAs and lawyers understand what’s involved in business development and then helping them go about doing it. If you are ready to begin finding, creating and sustaining relationships – and to have quite a bit of fun doing it – you are welcome to contact me.
